2021 BYRON LIGHTHOUSE RUN:
is a virtual event from 14th-28th November 2021 in your local government area
For locals, or those that are able to travel, you can choose to do the usual route at the Byron Bay Lighthouse
We've got some fun things planned! Scroll down for all the details.
We are excited to present the Lighthouse Run in a slightly different format this year. You can walk or run anywhere in your local government area with family and friends (and even your pets!) according to the Covid restrictions in your area. Just map out a 6km walk or 10km route, organise a convenient day and time with your friends, get dressed up (or not) and you're golden!
You can still do the usual route at the Byron Lighthouse if that's your local government area or you can travel there without penalty. If you choose to do the Run between 7am-noon on Sunday 21st November, our original event date, please present your race bib at Beach Byron Bay Kiosk to receive a free coffee/tea and Chia pudding, and a 'goody bag' on completion of the Run.
After registering for the Run you'll receive an email with a link to download your race bib and link to our online results portal where you can create a log-in and add your name. From 14 November you'll be able to upload your run time & route map to the portal. This can be done with an app or you can manually enter your time.
TIME YOUR RUN
We still want to see your times (and you might want to also). Download the App of your choice eg Runkeeper, Strava or Garmin etc to your phone. IMPORTANT: Make sure you make 'maps' accessible to the public on the app. For those not so tech savvy you can use a Fitbit or whatever timing tool you have on your phone and manually add your time to our online results portal.
As everyone's routes will be different, to make it fair we are not awarding time-based prizes. Instead, there are 10 fun categories you can enter for a chance to win a prize pack of amazing vouchers (details coming!).
The Lighthouse Run is tagged 'the most scenic run in the world' and we're inviting you to take snaps of your run/walk route to prove us wrong ;). We also want to see creative running styles and outfits, crazy hair, the funnest sunnies and cutest pet.
How to enter the prize draw:
1. Upload your video or photos to your Instagram story or Facebook page. Make sure your page is public, if not, please email your photos to us at [email protected]
2. Mention @byronbaylighthouserun & use the appropriate hashtag for the category you wish to enter. You can also add any fun captions, emojis or anything else to make it stand out (tip: there is a category for Most Creative IG Story)
Prize winners will be announced on our social media pages and notified by email on 1st December.
Check out the prize categories below!
#Most Colourful Team Outfit
#Best Family Crazy Hair
#Most Scenic Route
#Cutest Pet on the Run
#Most Interesting Running Style

As the event is now virtual with a flexible date we will not be offering refunds. If for some reason the event does not go ahead at all, refunds will be offered.
We hope that next year things will be 'normal' again and the Run will be held over a single day at the Byron Lighthouse. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing your videos and photos on social media, your run times on our results portal and maybe even some of you at the Lighthouse on the 21st! At a socially acceptable distance of course 🙂
